The Solid Waste Management Program *within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a *Grants, Litter, and Outreach Unit Supervisor (WMS Band 1) position. This position is locatedin our *Headquarters Office in* *Lacey, WA.{rel="nofollow"} Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.

Join us as a leader in the Solid Waste Management Program's Statewide Resources Section, where you will be part of an experienced and energetic team dedicated to waste prevention, identifying opportunities to reduce environmental impacts, and managing residual waste safely. In this position, you will lead and support the multifaceted Grants, Litter, and Outreach Unit staff. This unit is comprised of two teams -- the communications team and the grants administration team.   Your work will be integral to advancing Ecology's Solid Waste Management Program by focusing on the administration of grants to local governments, non-profits, and other entities to drive significant improvements in recycling, composting, food waste prevention, and waste management practices in Washington. You will also coordinate the use of various tools to communicate and promote statewide pollution prevention policies, including managing the 1-800 Recycle hotline and database, social media, and traditional publications and fact sheets to effectively reach and engage our target audiences.   In this position, you will guide our efforts toward achieving important environmental outreach goals. You will collaborate with peers throughout Ecology, as well as with other state, regional, and national agencies, industry associations, and non-profit groups to help meet our state's waste reduction goals. Implementing policies, interpreting regulations, communicating our work, and building support networks across the state are key to creating successful solid waste policy in Washington.   Agency Mission: *Ecology's mission is to protect, preserve and enhance the environment for current and future generations.  *

*Program Mission: *The mission of the Solid Waste Management program is to reduce wastes through prevention and reuse, keep toxics out of the environment, and safely manage what remains.
