The Toxics Cleanup Program{rel="nofollow"} (TCP) within the Department of Ecology (Ecology) is looking to fill a *Tacoma Smelter Plume Construction Manager (Environmental Engineer 2) (In-Training) *position. This position is located in our *Southwest Region Office (SWRO) *in Lacey, WA.{rel="nofollow"} Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.

As the Environmental Cleanup Construction Manager on the Tacoma Smelter Plume (TSP) project, you will oversee contractors conducting sampling and remedial actions on residential yard cleanups, as part of TSP's Yard Cleanup Program. This program ensures residential soil replacement in some of the most contaminated areas of the Tacoma Smelter Plume, resulting from the Asarco Copper Smelter. In this role, you will review sampling data and engineer designs, site plans, and specifications, develop bid documents, review submittals, and oversee cleanup actions. Utilizing knowledge of public works contracts, you'll work with contractors, property owners, and local government offices to complete these cleanups. We are looking for applicants who are detail-oriented, possess excellent people skills, strong project management skills, and are able to quickly assess a situation and make a decision and/or recommendation. Note: This position offers a career path and on-the-job training. This position allows you to progress through the Environmental Engineering field and achieve the goal class of an Environmental Engineer 2 (EE2). Candidates will be considered at the Engineering Aide 3, EE1, and the EE2 levels, depending on their qualifications. For salary levels for each, please see the qualifications section.
