The Water Quality Program *within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a *Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) Compliance Specialist (Environmental Specialist 4) position. This position is locatedin our *Headquarters Office in* *Lacey, WA.{rel="nofollow"} Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.

In this dynamic position, you will oversee and enforce compliance with water quality laws and regulations, focusing specifically on Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) general permit coverage. As part of the General Permit Unit within the Water Quality Program's Permit and Technical Services Section, you will join the team responsible for managing compliance for over 20 stormwater and wastewater general permits. You will develop a deep understanding of the CAFO permit and become a subject matter expert as you coordinate complex compliance and enforcement activities across regions, working closely with the Department of Agriculture. Tracking the status and progress of compliance actions, you will ensure timely progress and completion of all required activities. This role offers a varied work experience, allowing you to collaborate with different people and groups with a mix of time out in the field and in the office.
