Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) is seeking a Sr. Systems Applications Engineer to bring their expertise to our team of diverse, professional problem solvers in our Airborne Power & Control (APC) Product Group in Kirkland, WA.

This is an on-site position that offers flexibility to work from home 2-3 days per week.

JOB SUMMARY

The overriding business objective is to help grow the business by successfully leading the incorporation of APC products on new aircraft programs (such as eVTOL).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Innovative Power Systems: The successful Systems Engineer will leverage their significant technical skill and experience to assist customers in using APC electrical power distribution and control products to offer substantial benefits in weight, cost, and/or reliability over traditional approaches. The effective Systems Engineer will lead our customers to optimal solutions maximizing reuse of existing designs. The ability to tailor technical documents for innovative systems and LRUs for airborne environments is required. It is expected within three months of hire, the Systems Engineer will support multiple customers with the incorporation of APC power products into their aircraft.

2. Credibility with Customers: Meet and communicate with customers to develop credibility as a leading expert in the design and certification of aircraft electrical power systems. A goal of the System Engineer will be to gain confidence with key customers, while reinforcing Astronics AES capabilities to provide the best solution for their aircraft power needs. By providing technical assistance to customers and building key relationships, the Systems Engineer will grow our reputation as the recognized industry leader of aircraft electrical power systems in our market segment.

3. New Technology Trade-Offs: The Systems Engineer will be knowledgeable about new technology trends in power systems and be able to make logical recommendations, based upon experience and certification rules, about the practical implementation of these technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required ‘Must Haves' :

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline required

• Experience with requirements capture and management

• Ability to author technical documents, including specifications and plans

• Experience presenting technical information to customers and management

Important, but not necessarily showstoppers :

• Aerospace experience

• ARP4754A

• DO-160

• Aircraft electrical power systems

• Experience with requirement capture tools

• Experience following a defined system development process

Additional ‘Nice-to-Haves' :

• Aerospace cybersecurity experience (DO-326)

• Process improvement experience

• Simulation of electrical systems

• Experience writing proposals

• Polarion Software familiarity

EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.

• An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment background screen and drug test.

Salary range for this position is $102,687 - $154,031 per year . Several job-related and non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience in comparable roles, skill sets, training, education, licensure or certifications, other qualifications, market conditions and business needs influence actual salary offered. At Astronics AES, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range.
