This is a critical role within Kenworth to ensure we maintain both a high level of regulatory compliance and quickly identify and address any product related safety issues in the field. The main role of the Safety & Compliance Manager is to provide regulatory compliance and safety assessment guidance to Product Design Engineering and to provide technical support to the PACCAR Law Department. In this role, you will: Act as a final approver in all tollgate projects to evaluate compliance to federal regulations and safety standards Stay up to date on regulatory changes and evaluate necessary current product changes Coordinate and lead Safety Committee meetings to review potential safety and/or compliance issues Assess and identify affected chassis populations for any compliance or safety issue Evaluate and determine level of risk for any identified compliance or safety issue Utilize warranty, validation, and development documentation related to vehicles in litigation Represent Kenworth in meetings with regulatory agencies such as NHTSA May represent Kenworth at depositions and trials Coordinate with multiple groups across PACCAR, including After Sales and being the key contact for the PACCAR Law Department Respond to demand letters prior to litigation Work to continually improve Kenworth Engineering's understanding and utilization of effective quality design tools such as FMEAs and software focused Hazard Assessments Travel in support of accident reviews and other litigation activities Qualifications & Skills Degree in Engineering or related field required, P.E. preferred, Master's Degree preferred Five or more years of engineering experience, preferably with PACCAR required Five years design, manufacturing or applications experience preferred Strong heavy-duty truck product, manufacturing and process knowledge required Proficiency with all internal PACCAR systems such as OPS and COPICS, strongly preferred Knowledge of PACCAR Corporate Standards, Kenworth Design Bulletins, Manufacturing Standards, Operating Procedures, and Industry Standards preferred Excellent written and verbal presentation skills required Why work for PACCAR/Kenworth?
