PURPOSE Operates basic saw types such as pop-up, miter, web saws, etc. to cut planks, timbers, or boards according to work orders by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Reviews work order to determine cut(s) to be made. Adjusts saw for required cuts. Adjusts speed of saw and feed rolls. Observes automatic feeding of lumber to saw or pushes end of lumber into feed rolls. Stacks cut lumber after processing. Advises supervisor of dull saw blades. Other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Mathematical Skills - Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to read at tape measure at 1/16 inch. Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Other Skills and Abilities - Must be able to identify species, size, and grade of lumber.
