Sawyer Lead Framing Systems Kingston WA Yard - 26343 Bond Road Unit A-1 (98346), 26343 Bond Road, Kingston, Washington, United States of America * Kingston, WA, USA Req #37877 Monday, March 11, 2024 Position Summary: Operates complex component saws to cut planks, timbers, or boards according to work orders by performing the following duties. Provides training and work direction to other Saw Operators. What You'll Do: Reviews work order to determine cut(s) to be made. Operate component saw with computer controlled touch screen. Adjusts saw for required cuts. Adjusts speed of saw and feed rolls. Observes automatic feeding of lumber to saw or pushes end of lumber into feed rolls. Coordinates multiple activities associated with saw operations including picking, staging, stacking and loading. Plans and assigns work tasks among team in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related production goals. Performs job tracking and reporting, overseeing the efficiency and output of team. Trains new employees in the tasks required for component assembly work, including actual assembly techniques, use of tools and machinery, and safety guidelines and procedures. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED), plus 1-year prior experience and/or training in related construction or lumber industries; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 6 months prior experience working on machines and good mechanical aptitude is required. Must have attention to quality, quantity and safety. Language Skills Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Other Skills and Abilities Must be able to identify species, size, and grade of lumber.
