[Job Summary:]{.underline}

The mission of the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe's Health Clinic Registered Nurse position is to enhance the health status and quality of life of Tribal Members and other American Indian/Alaskan Native and non-Indian individuals who use the Tribe's health services. This is completed through the delivery of excellent health education, nursing care and case management services. The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive preventive and therapeutic nursing care, nursing triage for the members of the tribal community in the health clinic setting, and Services may be provided in the home setting on an as needed basis. This position operates within a strong team environment and under the health standards of the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe.

[Duties Include:]{.underline}

Nursing:

  • Provides comprehensive preventive, supportive, and therapeutic nursing care for clients with complex medical needs in the Health Clinic and in the home setting on an as needed basis.
  • Provides nursing triage of medical problems during clinic visits, phone calls or community activities, ascertaining severity and arranging appropriate services following the Health Clinic's nurse triage procedures. Is able to advise clients to call 911 when appropriate.
  • Provides nursing visits for lab work, immunizations, BP screenings, pregnancy testing and referrals, STI screenings and treatment, urinary tract infection screenings & treatment, TB screenings & lead screenings at the S'Klallam Health Clinic or at field clinics held in various departments on the reservation following PGHC standards of care and provider standing orders.
  • Provides education to community members in the clinic setting regarding their chronic conditions, lab results, medications, treatments, and immunizations and assists with patient recalls and scheduling of appointments at the health clinic.
  • Infusion therapy provision
  • Provide wound care and other nursing duties encompassing assessment, education, and disease management assistance
[Nursing Documentation:]{.underline}
  • Performs physical assessments, recognizing the range of normal and the manifestations of common abnormalities.
  • Utilizes the SOAP nursing process in assessing and planning for client care. Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan and re-evaluates interventions and repeats the SOAP process as necessary.
  • Documents assessments, interventions and nursing care plans in the electronic health record.
  • Completes appropriate referrals to other team members, referral agencies in the community that provides the necessary service.
  • Other duties as assigned.

[Qualifications:]{.underline}

  • Education: Graduation from a NLN approved School of Nursing with a B.S.N. preferred, ARN acceptable
  • Licensing: RN required with WA. State Licensure and Certification, valid WA state Drivers license and proof of insurability. BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required.
  • Clinical Experience: At least two years experience working in a community health clinic preferred. Work experience with an emphasis on tribal health and public health is preferred.
  • Personal Computer Skills: Basic personal computer skills and the ability to learn word-processing, spreadsheet and other software programs are required.
  • Experience with electronic health records desired.
