Naval Sea Systems Command ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in Keyport, Washington

Summary You will serve as an Engineering Technician (Mechanical) in the Maintenance, Engineering and Industrial Operations Department; Undersea and Combat Systems Depot Division; Mechanical Production Branch (Code 313) of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Keyport (NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA). Responsibilities You will participate in all phases of the handling, assembly, testing and troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical assemblies of torpedo systems. You will perform fault isolation from the system level down to the component level. You will develop technical procedures and processes for other technicians to follow. You will perform quality assurance procedures, including in-process inspections, self-assessments, internal audits and group level reviews. You will provide input to engineers and supervisors to improve subsystems, systems, facilities, and equipment that significantly adds to the weapon system usefulness, reliability and maintainability. You will participate in design studies on the feasibility, suitability, adaptability, and operational utility of systems and system concepts. You will Conducts phases of technical work as part of a major project or a complete projects of considerable scope and complexity. You will provide input to engineers and supervisors to improve subsystems, systems, facilities, and equipment You will demonstrate practical knowledge of technical engineering methods, concepts, precedents, principles, requirements, work techniques, and practices of heavyweight or lightweight weapon systems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying a wide range of technical engineering principles to assemble, test, troubleshoot or repair complex electromechanical systems (e.g., torpedo or non-torpedo electro/mechanical undersea warfare systems and components).
