Shape Technologies Group Software Test Engineer in Kent, Washington
Description
General Purpose (Who you are):
Do you enjoy working in a team that makes machines do amazing things? Are you skilled at testing and observing details in software products? Working within a small cross-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for testing software products which control the world’s leading waterjet cutting machines. You will work closely with software, electrical, mechanical, and field service engineers, innovating and setting the bar for the control of shape-cutting systems.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Create, maintain, and execute test plans and test cases for software used in the waterjet industry
Tests may be manual, automated, or a combination of both
Develop and test PC images
Estimate test efforts
Analyze and communicate test results
Software defect tracking and reporting
Participate in day-to-day test and software team activities
Work in both an office or lab environment
Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated skill in testing software. Experience testing software which controls hardware is a plus.
Must have excellent troubleshooting skills to identify root causes, often for complex issues
Demonstrated skill using code repositories and team tools, preferably Microsoft DevOps
Passion for creating and executing detailed test plans
Self-motivated and disciplined, with a desire to learn new things
Strong time management skills with a history of meeting commitments
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Basic understanding of software programming concepts
Ability to use MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Teams

Flow waterjet Shape-cutting systems
Motion control simulators
Education/Experience and/or Training:
AA or Bachelor’s degree in a technical or software related field, or a relevant Certificate of Achievement
Minimum 1-3 years of experience in software development and/or test environments
