Located in Kent Washington, Protective Coatings Inc. is a leading provider of full service finishing for the aerospace, electronics and medical industries in both commercial and defense applications. Services include but are not limited to non-destructive testing such as fluorescent penetrant and magnetic particle inspection and a wide variety of surface enhancement processes such as shot peening and abrasive blasting, passivation, cadmium and nickel zinc plating, chromic, sulfuric and boric sulfuric acid anodizing and the application of chromate conversion coating on ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. Organic coating includes the application and testing of multiple resin systems such as epoxies, phenolics, polyurethanes, polyesters, elastomerics, intumescents, lacquers, alkyds, acrylics, dry-film lubricants, powder coatings and Teflon. Position Summary: Responsible for supporting the Quality Department in the plan, coordination, and execution of quality control activities to assure that the Operation delivers sheet metal products that meet all company and customer Quality requirements.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Reviewing and assimilating work instructions specific to paint type, dimensional tolerance and thickness considerations.
Loading, adjustment and light maintenance of conventional HVLP coating equipment in remote pressure, siphon and gravity fed variants.
Reviewing and assimilating work instructions relating to cleaning, masking, and abrasive blasting operations.
Perform receiving inspections (before processing) as needed and immediately report any damage or discrepancy.
Abrasive blasting production parts and hardware using Aluminum Oxide, Plastic Media, and Glass Beads.
Gathers supplies such as racks, tooling, baskets, carts (etc).
Oiling and/or packaging of parts for protection.
Cleaning of production parts which include degreasing or manual solvent cleaning.
Routine blast cabinet/machine maintenance.
Work closely with area leadership to complete work and prioritize tasks.
Understanding and maintaining best safety practices in accordance with prescribed directives.
Will be exposed to chemicals/solvents, occasional fumes, and moderate noise level.
Will at times require heavy lifting.
Responsible for developing, updating and maintaining the total Quality Control System that conforms to customer and company requirements.
Conduct part specific quality planning of new parts in accordance with customer and company requirements.
As part of Contract Review process ensure that customer supplied specifications match Klune NH operational capabilities.
Develop work Instructions from customer-supplied specifications.
Review, and approve part router/traveler instructions to ensure they meet company and customer contract requirements, procedures and specifications.
Review all non-conforming material for disposition, utilizing the report of non-conformance.
Review customer quality complaints to determine appropriate corrective actions and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Initiate request for corrective action (RCA) from internal and external customers
Work proactively with Manufacturing and Engineering to determine root cause and corrective action on all internal non-conformances.
Submit non-conformance to customer and negotiate disposition
Provide leadership and/or support of plant quality and continuous improvement programs, including Six Sigma, SPC and various customer focused programs.
Works with Quality and Operations teams to maintains 3rd party accreditations (NADCAP, AS9100).
Proactively engage with Operations department to minimize scrap, rework, escapes and customer returns.
Drive cost improvement/productivity initiatives throughout QC/Inspection departments.
Conduct internal and external audits of Klune NH suppliers, processes and Quality System
Release product to be shipped as an authorized Quality Representative of the customer.
Supports and enforces all plant safety requirements and policies.
BA or BS Degree in Related Field
Prior Experience using Root Cause & Analysis, Problem Solving Tools & Techniques, and Corrective Actions
Experience with ISO 9001, AS 9100, NADCAP
Experience with Internal and Customer Audits
Must be able to interact with multi-functional teams and Lead assigned task to resolution
Level of Education:
- General Standard education including the ability to read and write in English.
