American Fast Freight, Inc. Dispatcher in Kent, Washington

Position Purpose

Dispatcher will direct and coordinate the pick up and delivery of containerized, LCL/LTL and FCL/FTL shipments, assuring that proper and matching documentation is processed, prepared, and filed/forwarded. Dispatcher will coordinate resources to maximize efficient utilization of trucks, manpower, and facilities to provide internal and external customers with superior service. Dispatcher will process, document, and maintain filing systems to comply with Company, DOT, and US Customs regulations. Dispatcher maintains contact with drivers, contractors, vendors and terminals/depots via phone, fax, computer and e-mail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide superior customer service to all customers, both internal and external. Seek to increase cooperation and smooth flow of information/documents within departments to enhance efficiency in operations.

Dispatch for pickup and delivery of cargo to/from customers, port, and other carrier locations.

Monitors Hours of Service for compliance

Monitors the LCL grids and the FCL grids for available freight, deadlines required to deliver, last free day

Communicate in a timely manner to internal departments the status of containers from the steamship line, the piers including estimate of when driver will be assigned.

Coordinate with warehouse and traffic department the priority of the days workload to meet top priorities with established labor and other factors

Provide daily update to all departments expected workload, staffing, and labor requirements for the following day.

Communicate with customers, sales and other departments to assemble information necessary to assure that incoming and outgoing shipments are dispatched in a timely and properly documented manner.

Assure that all shipments are accurately entered, documented and signed for, research cargo status, container release, and location status via phone, computer and e-mail.

Prepare and complete appropriate manifest, B/L and other associated paperwork for each delivery or shipment. Forward appropriate documents to assist CFS coordinator, and other departments for processing.

Handle routine CFS, Vendor, and Dispatch documentation production and flow processes.

Maintain information in the strictest of confidence.

Supports and actively complies with the security duties and responsibilities described in the C-TPAT Security Program document which was received and signed for upon hire.
