This client is an environmental company that is nationally known. Their Kelso lab is a bit more high level and is specifically chemistry based. The Kelso lab supports environmental projects, but consists of many different divisions (ie Organics, Inorganics, Chemistry, Microbiology, etc.). With multiple different divisions also comes lots of opportunities for growth, as ALS prides themselves on their ability to promote from within. Their environmental projects normally pertain to microbial, soil, air, water, and food testing. Some real life examples/applications could be how ALS responds to gulf spills, or performs the testing for things such as the inner coatings of non-stick cooking pans or drinking water quality. They have a site in Portland that specifically does testing on car cooling, fuel, and oil systems. however environmental experience is not as desired as the chemistry experience is.

Instrumentation explained:

GCMS - Gas-Chromatography Mass Spectrometry - Analytical method that combines the features of gas-chromatography and mass spectrometry to identify different substances within a test sample, normally performed by a machine

ICP - Inductively Coupled Plasma - ICP analysis, is a chemical method which can be used to identify both trace amounts and major concentrations of nearly all elements within a sample.

FTIR - Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer - Identifies chemical bonds in a molecule by producing an infrared absorption spectrum. The spectra produce a profile of the sample, a distinctive molecular fingerprint that can be used to screen and scan samples for many different components.
