DescriptionThe Production Supervisor's principle role is to supervise the union work force and coordinate field maintenance and operations activities to ensure HSE compliance and reliable operations of the continuous and batch chemical processes. The individual must have experience in Manufacturing, PSM, Process Engineering and Project management with a demonstrated ability to engage leadership and the work force. This person will ensure adherence to plant safety standards to promote safe operations of the chemical manufacturing process and maintenance work activities as well as provide training, coaching and mentoring for the hourly work force. Ideal candidates will possess a drive for continuous improvement, root cause problem solving and excellent decision making skills and the ability to prioritize and communicate across all levels of the organization.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Health Safety and Environmental:Lead and support HS&E Objectives by improving the plant safety culture and program interdependency.Assure compliance with all environmental regulations and permits.Meet all PSM requirements.Provide clear and visible leadership with the philosophy that every incident is preventable.Assist in providing safety leadership to hourly operator and maintenance personnelConduct Housekeeping and safety auditsLead Safety Committee Meetings and manage completion of action itemsSupervisory ResponsibilitiesDevelop and communicate goals and expectations for 20+ Union Hourly OperatorsMonitor process and utility equipmentInitiate and prioritize emergency repairsScreen and prioritize maintenance work requestsDevelop the maintenance scheduleSchedule hourly employees in accordance with the collective bargaining agreementEnsure field operational objectives are met, including minimizing the impact of maintenance items on quality and production targetsEducation & Experience:Bachelor's degree in Engineering required, preferably Chemical Engineering.At least 3 years of experience working in a continuous production/manufacturing environment. Specialty chemical, chemical reaction and distillation experience is preferred.Experience working at a PSM regulated facility.Experience in a supervisory role. Previous supervision of Union hourly personnel is preferred.Commitment to excel in safety and environmental compliance with a strong desire for continual improvement in these areas.Strong leadership, work ethic, high level of integrity and ability to work under pressure.Strong technical ability and project management skills.Proficient written and oral communication skills.Able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis in Word, Excel and Outlook, required.Highly effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.Demonstrated problem solver.
