About the Position: This position is located at U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 404th Army Field Support Brigade Logistics Readiness Center, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. Responsibilities Receive all incoming shipments by verifying seal numbers. Assure medical supplies requiring refrigeration are stored properly. Handle paperwork for shipments, ensuring all details are correct. Guide team members who are helping with the receiving process. Use a forklift to organize heavy items safely. Take care of the forklift by performing basic maintenance tasks. Help with inventory checks to make sure everything is stored properly. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an MATERIALS HANDLER without more than normal supervision. ?I have the ability to perform common Materials Handler duties related to receiving and verifying shipments, managing documentation, and storing materials accurately. I can operate forklifts and other equipment to move and organize heavy items and assist team members in the receiving process. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Efforts: Required to stand, stoop, bend and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lift and carry supplies/materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds; may be required to handle items weighing over 75 pounds. Working Conditions: Works is performed on outside loading docks and inside receiving areas that may be hot, cold, damp, drafty or poorly lighted. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a(n) Logistics Career Field position. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 13 months by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition. Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) [specific date or number of years] by a current permanent Army employee.
