Army Installation Management Command Information Technology Specialist (SYSADMIN) in Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington
Summary The FMWRC mission is to create and maintain "FIRST CHOICE" MWR products and services for America's Army, essential to a ready, self-reliant force. This position is located at Joint Base Lewis McChord MWR Libraries. Responsibilities Performs work that involves planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and/or maintenance of hardware or software systems using standard principles, theories, concepts and methods for systems administration. Implements security plans, policies, and preventive maintenance schedules. Carries out routine maintenance, upgrade, and support of hardware, operating systems, and/or applications software. Utilizes diagnostic tools and techniques to verify operability, optimize the functionality of networks and/or systems, and to diagnose/recover failed systems. Provides ongoing optimization and problem-solving support to minimize interruptions in customers' ability to carry out critical business activities. Manages network rights and access to systems and equipment. Interprets and applies information security and information assurance policy, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems administration services. Prepares and presents reports and briefings to technical staff. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Specialized IT experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training or IT certification which demonstrates skill in applying: 1a. Principles and methods for integrating information systems components; Performance tuning tools and techniques; System diagnostic tool and fault identification techniques; Systems administration methods; and IT security principles. OR 1b. Completion of a master's degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree in computer science/engineering, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours as indicated above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. AND 2. Candidates must also demonstrate IT-related experience which addresses the following competencies: Attention to detail - Such as implementing quality control procedures and conducting compliance reviews. Customer service - Such as providing assistance to both internal and external customers; assessing customers' needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction. Verbal communication - Such as conducting formal presentations or training to audiences at varying levels of hierarchy and technical expertise. Demonstrated problem-solving skills - Such as identifying the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. PCS Costs Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest. Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials This is a pay-banded position. Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid.
