Field Engineer – Electrical CLP Engineering (CLPE) is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm with more than twenty years’ experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers. We’re seeking a talented and motivated Field Engineer-Electrical to join our team at our client site in Joint base Lewis McChord, WA. Summary/Objective: The Field Engineer will work on maintenance of the electrical distribution and substation systems at the Joint Base Lewis McChord facility; Will perform as Liaison between field and office. This position is supported by the Electrical Engineering team at the corporate office in Denver. Duties and Responsibilities: • Will perform as the main engineering POC on-site. Represent engineering team in daily field operations. Directly report to designated Site Engineer and fill any gaps between field and engineering department. • Review and coordinate customer service connections (small projects that require a basic system changeout for connections) – site walks with customer, concept sketches, specifications, BOM, procurement support, customer design review, CLPE design and drawings, construction support, as-builts, and final documentation. Maintain communication and seek guidance when needed. • Coordinate and provide support on large customer service connection projects – projects requiring existing utility system reconfiguration, capacity increase, and/or protective device coordination. • Keep GIS and CAD drawings/standards current; Update one-lines and other CAD drawings as needed. • Support engineers on projects with data collections, field verifications, relay settings download/upload, event data gathering, metering information tracking. • Keep track of apparatus maintenance records and assist Installation Manager with developing R&R plans: review field inspections for QA/QC, keep track of maintenance requests in GIS, track apparatus and device testing reports and assist Engineer in analyzing them. • Support CartoPac inspections and maintenance workflow – help field crew with CartoPac data collection, troubleshooting, adding data fields, and QA/QC data collections. • Keep track of reliability indices. Enter outage reports in eReliability and help prepare outage reports for large scale faults and outages. • Support field troubleshooting and data gathering for fault events – download relay event data. Support field crew troubleshoot faults and failures. Skills and Qualifications: • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology or related major required. BSEE with emphasis in electrical power systems preferred. • Six-eight (6-8) years’ utility industry experience including experience with power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination. • Intermediate understanding of medium voltage electrical substations and distribution systems. • Experience working with blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services. • Ability to prepare construction schedules in Microsoft Project. • Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills. • Strong oral and written communication skills • Must be a team player and be able to work independently with various partners from start to finish. *Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work Authorization and Clearance: • You must be a U.S. citizen. • You will be required to obtain security clearance for military base access. • Valid Driver’s License required.
