Responsibilities
Responsible for rooming and patient flow by taking medical histories, vital statics, obtaining last visit notes and/or lab results. Prepares patients for exams, treatments and procedures by obtaining vital signs which may include temp, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height and weight measurements. Observe and record patient symptoms.
Explain tests or procedures and inform patients of test results. Instruct patient in urine or fecal specimen collection, screen and follow up test results. May perform waived test: Glucose or Urine Dip.
Maintain medication and immunization records
Utilizing Standard Precautions: cleans & organizes exam rooms, cleans/sterilizes equipment, dispose bio-hazardous materials and is responsible for autoclave wrapping.
Acts as primary contact for patients in person and on the phone. Greets patients upon entering the clinic. Registers and checks-in patients, prepares paperwork for visit, verifies and updates patient information for new and established patients. Collect co-payments from patients at check-in.
Answers telephones and schedule patient appointments with providers. Reminds patients of upcoming appointments and schedules new or follow up appointments. Explains logistics related to appointments (e.g., appointment time, parking). Keeps patients informed of delays. Routes phone calls per urgent/emergent guidelines. Perform telephone and in-person screening.
Coordinates and schedules services for patients and providers. Maintains provider’s daily schedules and communicates changes. Prepares charts with all necessary paperwork. Coordinates pre-authorizations. Requests/submits referrals. Maintains filing of test results. Updates insurance information.
Manages information such as filing, pharm refill line, release/receipt of records, x-rays, referrals, pre-authorizations & quality checks on charge slips. Provides patients with generic preoperative and postoperative information.
Manages office supplies. Coordinates durable medical equipment delivery/return. Maintains stock & patient education materials Sorts mail & other communications.

Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
6 months experience in a medical office/clinic or graduation from an accredited Medical Administrative Assistant, Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant Program.
Medical Assistant Registered (MA-R) through the State of Washington, sponsored by Virginia Mason, required within 60 days of hire.
Knowledge of medical terminology
Professional demeanor with a positive, upbeat attitude, strong communication skills
Excellent organizational and interpersonal communications.
Detail oriented with ability to multi-task. Capable to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrative and clinical staff, leaders, patients and physicians
