SanMar Manager, Safety in Issaquah, Washington

At SanMar, the work you do makes a difference. What's the Short Version? The Manager, Safety partners with leaders companywide to manage and continuously improve the safety management program. This role is responsible for studying and interpreting Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) regulations and standards; conducting inspections; identifying causes of accidents and hazards; developing preventive measures and practices; ensuring effective training; and providing information relevant to the design and construction of facilities and the installation of equipment. What Will You Be Doing? Responsible for managing and continuously improving the safety management program. Partner with leaders to identify and prioritize efforts to ensure the best outcomes. Prevent OSHA citations by studying and interpreting OSHA regulations and standards; conducting inspections; identifying problems; developing solutions; accompanying and working with inspectors. Prevent accidents by investigating accidents; identifying causes of accidents and hazards; developing preventive measures and practices; conferring with insurance carriers; participating in each DC's safety committee; preparing and recommending policies and procedures. Prepare employees for safe work by developing and disseminating safety information; conducting safety training; providing consultations and ergonomic assessments. Represent the organization by attending hearings and presenting information. Maintain safe facilities by providing information relevant to the design and construction of facilities, and the installation of equipment; conducting inspections; recommending improvements. Recommend purchase of safety equipment by coordinating requirements with Operations team and evaluating products. Provide safety information and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends; publishing reports. Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environments by understanding current and proposed legislation; adhering to organization standards and policies to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns. Improve safety management knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies. Collaborate with Workers Compensation team to develop understanding of areas of opportunity for safety prevention. Support HR team completion of OSHA logs and reviews in conjunction with Workers Compensation Administrator for accuracy and completeness prior to submission by HR. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all policies and standards. What Are We Looking For? Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment, or related field. 4-6 years experience as a Safety Engineer or related position. 7-9 years experience creating company policies, investigating accidents, and conducting follow-up. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred. Expert knowledge of OSHA requirements as they pertain to distribution centers/warehousing. Demonstrated data-driven analyses. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate goals and objectives. Strong information seeking and problem solving skills with a results driven mindset. Consistently demonstrate strong people skills, professionalism, and a positive attitude. Able to travel frequently; up to 25%. What's Our Offer? Salary Range: Youll earn between $105,000 - $150,000 annually, depending on experience. Bonus: Youll be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus up to 15% of base salary.
