At SanMar, the work you do makes a difference. What's the Short Version? An Apparel Merchandiser is responsible for SanMar's industry brands by building and maintaining strong partnerships, driving seasonal product opportunities and collaborating with the brands. The focus of the role is to propose assortment expansions based on discovered market research and to manage the brand relationships. The Merchandiser serves as a facilitator for negotiations, recommendations, execution, monitoring, change management, and conflict resolutions with industry brand partners. What Will You Be Doing? Product expert related to style offering, design, fabrication, pricing and positioning in the apparel marketplace. Utilize market knowledge related to target consumers and end use to identify category growth opportunities and new product market potential. Possess and apply understanding of the product, delivery and pricing needs of core consumers, key markets, and channels. Research and analyze competitor and market product, consumer, and competitive trends. Conduct detailed analysis of sales history and forecasts demand for potential new products. Create documentation on findings for consumer and market information and present information to team. Recommend product positioning, create category construct and line plans, while managing and championing the ideas through the product creation process. Champion product positioning with marketing and sales throughout go-to market process - including web, image (catalog), and other support materials. Maintain the line planning, pricing and product creation documentation for a complete product line - including silhouette/style/color plan, fit/sizing vision, flow plan, and pricing strategies. Resolve process and merchandising issues that arise throughout the season while analyzing, recommending ways to continually improve process efficiencies. Approve product designs and components that the development team brings to meet the needs of the design brief. Create and communicate impactful presentations; proactively prepare for team product reviews and presentations (e.g., catalogs, photo samples, sample preparation, meeting set-up, etc.). Manage the preparation, coordination, proofing, and execution of sales tool information supplied for sales and marketing use (e.g., catalogs, sales samples, sales meeting presentation templates, etc.). Assist in planning the appropriate style/SKU level to optimize productivity and manage inventory distribution. Responsible for assembling and distributing various product documentation per the calendar and assigned deadlines, including ETA lists, companion list, style roadmaps, web spec sheet info, and product feedback recaps. Work with brand partners to schedule seasonal product presentation meetings and to champion brand positioning messaging and/or events where appropriately aligned with SanMar's business model. Manage collection and distribution of special pricing events from brand partners to internal counterparts in pricing, planning and finance departments. Own seasonal house line sample management and coordination for all industry brands. Assist in creating, assembling and distributing various product documentation per the calendar and assigned deadlines. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all policies and standards. What Are We Looking For? Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Merchandising or related field or equivalent experience. 1-3 years of relevant experience in apparel product related roles. Proven merchandising skills and understanding of the product creation process. Strong business orientation, analytical aptitude, retail math and computer skills.
