Integrated NW Construction Drafter in Hoodsport, Washington

About the Job We are looking for a Part-Time Drafter to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with Project Manager(s) to create technical drawings based on project scope, design sketches, and regulatory requirements. You will ensure all designs are compliant, focusing on producing accurate and detailed plans for projects like piers, ramps, floats, bulkheads, and new builds.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with Project Manager(s) to convert project scope and design sketches into precise technical drawings.
  2. Develop plans for over-water and shoreline structures (e.g., docks, pier-ramp-float systems, bulkheads) in accordance with project specifications.
  3. Ensure all drawings comply with 2021 IBC Building Code and WDFW's Hydraulic Code Rules (WAC 220-660).
  4. Use drafting software (AutoCAD or equivalent) to create, modify, and update technical plans.
  5. Review drawings with Project Manager(s) to incorporate any changes or modifications required.
  6. Assist in preparing construction documents required for regulatory approvals.
  7. Maintain organized files of drawings, revisions, and related project documentation.
  8. Occasional site visits required to meet with Engineer and/or Project Manager as needed.

     

Qualifications

  1. Proficiency in drafting software (AutoCAD or similar tools) is required.
  2. Knowledge of construction practices and drafting standards.
  3. Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate technical drawings.
  4. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Project Manager(s) and team members.
  5. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  6. Familiarity with 2021 IBC Building Codes.
  7. Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to:

    1. Seeing, hearing, and speaking
    2. Bending, standing, climbing, stooping, and walking

       

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in shoreline or overwater construction projects and relevant codes.
