Located in the Gig Harbor, Washington area, this short-term contract / temporary position is an engaging, multi-faceted opportunity where hard work is rewarded. The Staff Accountant plays a major role in the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. The majority of time spent will be dedicated to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. And during the monthly close, your responsibilities will also cover various aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will take part in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes.

How you will make an impact

  • Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision

  • Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

  • Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

  • Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

  • Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

  • Maintain monthly payment schedules

  • Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments

  • Report on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner Requirements - Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

  • Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

  • Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

  • Spreadsheet and database capabilities

  • Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

  • Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Account reconciliation experience

  • Balance Sheet Reconciliation experience required

  • Bank Account Reconciliation experience

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Current and relevant ERP system experience
