Professional (+) (Fixed Term) Position Details: Summary of Duties: This position oversees volunteer management and youth development opportunities for local Extension work in the 4-H Youth Development Program of San Juan County. This position is responsible for assisting volunteers in coordinating community outreach efforts and efforts serving youth inside of the 4-H club system. This oversight includes the development and implementation of programs and activities within the policies and procedures of WSU Extension, and specifically, 4-H programming under the direction of the 4-H Regional Specialist and the State 4-H Program Leader. Required Qualifications: • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant extension program discipline and two (2) years of related program experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. • Experience managing and evaluating volunteers. • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team setting • Demonstrated ability to relate to and collaborate with a wide range of people from varied social and economic levels, ages, races, ethnic backgrounds as well as in rural, suburban, and urban settings. • Demonstrated ability to use database software. • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; demonstrated work experience using these programs. • While using a private vehicle for official business, the successful candidate must have current automobile liability insurance (meeting the requirements described in https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=46.30.020 and https://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=46.29.090). • Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with https://policies.wsu.edu/prf/index/manuals/safety-policies-procedures-manual/sppm-7-10/ and departmental driving standards. • Must successfully pass the WSU 4-H Youth Development/Child Protection screening process. Preferred Qualifications: • Knowledge of, and/or experience with, 4-H youth development programs. • Three (3) years of related program experience which includes supervisory- level experience. • Ability to act with professional discretion when resolving programmatic conflicts. • Strong demonstrated written skills requiring limited editing and supervision in preparing reports, evaluations, press releases, synthesis of a broad range of materials, and effective written conveyance of program information to the public and program participants. • Strong demonstrated verbal communication and listening skills: public speaking, effective conveyance of program information to the public, program participants, and decision-makers. • Experience working/collaborating with multiple public agencies, NGOs, and individuals in partnerships. • Knowledge of, and/or experience with, program assessment and evaluation. Experience developing curriculum. • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and creative environment emphasizing youth and adult development. • Extended teaching experience in informal or formal (i.e., school) settings. • First Aid and CPR certified. • Language and cultural competency in Spanish. • Familiarity with social media.
