Robert Half Payroll Supervisor/Manager/Director in Fife, Washington


Our reputable client is seeking a Payroll Manager to join the company. This Payroll Manager will help achieve standards that are necessary for growth within the financial department and will be responsible for work on tax-related tasks, such as W2 forms, preparing reports and updating policies.   • Settle issues and respond to all questions related to payroll

  • Build systems to process payroll account transactions (e.g., salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes and third-party payments)

  • Oversee processing of payroll changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, raises) and system upgrades

  • Abide by relevant laws and internal policies

  • Oversee and train payroll assistants and clerks

  • Manage payroll tax audits and liaise with auditors

  • Work with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams

  • Arrange payroll systems and timekeeping

  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate records


  • Excellent knowledge in compliance

  • 2+ years of proven leadership experience as a payroll manager or similar role

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field (prefered but not required)

  • Seasoned in handling confidential business matters and information with discretion

  • Solid grasp on current payroll procedures and related laws

  • Previous experience with multi-location payroll and taxes

  • Understands a number of payroll applications, including: Multi-state payroll, Union Payroll, Tax filing information - and the ability to research compliance info

  • CPP, CPM, or other related professional certifications is a plus

  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills

  • 5+ years of payroll experience

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written, and listening)
