Camin Cargo Control Laboratory Technician in Fife, Washington

LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

Position Summary

Performs laboratory testing of various customer supplied, quality control or round robin samples for purposes such as qualitative analysis and process control.  Certifies that samples conform to specifications as per customer and/or industry requirements.

  • Minimum Requirements
  • Requires a H.S. Degree (or equivalent).
  • Must possess basic computer, math and science skills.
  • Must demonstrate ability to grasp new procedures quickly and be capable of working independently upon completion of training.
  • Must be able to distinguish color.
  • Must pass pulmonary test for respirator use.

Responsibilities

As instructed by the Laboratory Manager and Coordinator or as requested from the Operations Department and under the strict guidelines described in the quality manuals and ASTM/API procedures:

  • * *Analyzes customer, round robin and/or quality control samples as per industry standards and company procedures in order to verify conformity to specifications and/or standards.
  • Document each test result and maintain neat, complete, and accurate records. Prepares corresponding customer or internal reports as per standard procedures.
  • Maintains sample cradle to grave process including the login, labeling and disposal of all samples as per internal company procedures.
  • Performs Quality Assurance/Quality Control testing as required for each instrument and, if authorized, calibrates instruments as per internal procedures and schedules.
  • Maintains laboratory, instruments, equipment, and supplies in good working order. Notifies Laboratory Manager or Coordinator if equipment is not functioning properly or if additional supplies may be needed. 
  • Be available during non-working hours, weekends, and holidays as dictated by the Laboratory Manager, Coordinator and/or Operations Department.

Fitness for Duty -- Physical Demands

Workday may consist of 8-12 hours however this can vary day to day and shift to shift. Some of the retain work is performed outdoors, wearing full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and could include possible exposure to high and low temperatures for a prolonged duration of time. Laboratory work is normally performed indoors under climate-controlled conditions.
