Weyerhaeuser Civil/Structural Engineering Intern in Federal Way, Washington

As an industry leading manufacturer of engineered wood products, the Weyerhaeuser Product Engineering, Codes and Standards team plays a critical role in ensuring code compliance and supporting the specification and application of Weyerhaeuser engineered wood products.
In this role, you will work collaboratively with our team of talented structural engineers, to enhance Weyerhaeuser’s external and internal facing product specification tools and create solutions for complex product application scenarios. Your background in Structural/Civil Engineering and problem-solving coupled with an interest in product analysis and design will lead to your success in this position.

The duration of this internship is approximately 12-weeks starting in the summer of 2024. The role will be in-office assignment, reporting out of Weyerhaeuser’s Federal Way, WA office.
- Actively participate in a safety-driven workplace culture
Work under the supervision of engineers: o Develop and update specification literature, CAD details and Excel based design aids o Create and update product design methodologies o Resolve technical field problems o Support test laboratory and manufacturing activities as needed o May be assigned a special project outside of the daily job duties
Education- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or other equivalent engineering program at an accredited college or university and has completed their junior year by the start of the internship.
- Core Skills- Must be a critical thinker and have the ability to communicate issues/results to technical audiences. Able to collaborate with individuals and teams, is goal oriented with attention to detail and deadlines. Has the ability to excel with minimal supervision, learn quickly, and actively seek new challenges.
- Technical Skills- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, statics, and basic structural analysis.
*Preferred Qualifications: *
- Functional knowledge of AutoCAD or related drafting software
- Functional knowledge of Visual Basic macro development in Excel
Compensation:The pay rate for this role ranges from $25.00 - $30.00 per hour based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience.
