Air Mobility Command Accounting Technician (General Ledger) in Fairchild AFB, Washington

Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the 92 Force Support Squadron, NAF Accounting Office, Fairchild AFB, WA. . Performs a full range of duties using double-entry accrual accounting methods in order to maintain a combination of journals and ledgers. This is a Regular Part time position; guaranteed 20-34 hours per week; depending on the needs of the facility. Responsibilities Performs a full range of duties using double-entry accrual accounting methods in order to maintain a combination of journals and ledgers. Classifies, verifies, and analyzes a wide variety of accounting documents in order to assure their mathematical correctness, validity and clerical accuracy. Documents may include purchase orders, vouchers, payrolls, property records, etc., which are complicated by discounts, partial payments, etc. Maintains double-entry bookkeeping journals and subsidiary ledgers, posting entries to establish accounts. Prepares monthly balances, reconcile accounts, and transcribes to general ledger for closeout of all accounts. Trace discrepancies, if necessary, to posting documents, computes operation expenses, incurred by individual activities, for accounting services provided, and assigns charges appropriately. Reports prepared may include profit and loss statements, financial statements, and miscellaneous financial reporting data. Provides accounting guidance and procedures to activity personnel and other accounting technicians within the office. Performs receiving and disbursing cashier duties. Responsible for receiving and processing deposits from all activities. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience in work which provided a comprehensive knowledge of double entry accounting procedures and techniques; in maintaining and analyzing all classes of accounts. Knowledge and procedures used to enter, modify, and retrieve and delete information in an automated general ledger system; and the ability to analyze the interrelationship of accounts that are affected by varied transactions. Must have progressively responsible general clerical experience which has demonstrated arithmetic aptitude and ability, accuracy, and attention to detail. Progressively responsible experience in the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, custody, and other processing of cash items when this includes (1) direct handling of cash items and, (2) use of cash accountability control methods. Must have ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Position of Trust. Successful completion of a National Agency Check with Inquires (NACI) required. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position DOES NOT allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
