Job Title: Wire and Electrical Equipment EngineerJob Description

A successful candidate will be the engineering representative and participate as a team member within an Integrated Project Team. The individual will be responsible for the integration of electrical components and the design of wiring harnesses and supporting structure into the design while meeting vendor and OEM requirements. You will use NX and support workflows in Teamcenter, publish parts lists, peer review models, ensure customer requirements are met, support overall engineering design for the program, ensure new designs meet cost, weight, and performance targets, and troubleshoot issues related to field data, manufacturing pickups, and engineering errors.

Responsibilities

  • Design wire harnesses and install the wire harness in a monument that will be used in a commercial aircraft while meeting vendor, OEM, FAA, and internal requirements.

  • Integrate electrical components using the wire harness design ensuring all requirements are met.

  • Collaborate on an Integrated Project Team to define schedule and scope of work.

  • Direct the work of outsource resources assigned on projects in electrical integration areas.

  • Verify system configuration and block diagrams.

  • Prepare, modify, and release drawings created in CAD NX to verify fit, form, and function of mechanical and electrical designs.

  • Design brackets and fixations for electrical components and wiring as needed.

  • Evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs, including communicating with current and new suppliers.

  • Operate in a team environment with other functional areas, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college/university or equivalent experience.

  • 3-5 years of experience with the design of wire harnesses and installation in a commercial aircraft monument using a 3D modeling package.

  • Experience with AutoCAD 2D drawings and NX wire routing/modeling.

  • Familiarity with FAA requirements and/or knowledge of applicable aircraft specs related to wiring routing.

  • Experience with mechanical routing of electrical harnesses, hydraulic lines, or other mechanical routing.

  • Accountability for Design for Manufacturability, Design for Quality, and producibility targets to ensure the Value Stream meets Recurring Cost targets (DTC).

  • Technical performance of the program to system requirements.

  • Experience with assembly, test, and field support.

  • Understanding of reliability, maintainability, and safety.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the design of electrical systems or systems packaging for commercial aircraft interior products.

  • Knowledge or experience with FAA requirements.

  • Experience with mechanical routing of electrical harnesses, hydraulic lines, or other mechanical routing.

Work Environment

You will work in a collaborative team environment using advanced technologies such as NX for wire routing and Teamcenter for workflow management. The position involves working with various teams to ensure the integration of electrical components and meeting design specifications while adhering to industry standards and internal requirements. The work requires attention to detail, problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
