Under general supervision, provides direction, inspiration and counseling to teammates. Monitors workflow functions, outcomes, customer satisfaction, and quality measures of the department.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with all members of the department health care team ensuring smooth patient flow within department. Responsible for the day-to-day operations including achieving established goals such as quality of care. Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures in accordance with State and Federal Regulations. Use daily management system, and standard tools to monitor individual and departmental performance on key metrics

  • Determine appropriate staffing mix and amount to meet routine and special patient needs and arranges staff coverage. Demonstrate leadership and collaboration in problem solving with employees and patients

  • Direct work of teammates, including supervision, hiring, and terminations; determine staffing needs, and ensure efficient utilization of teammates. Monitor skill development and performance of the staff. Provide orientation for all new teammates and coaches for high performance. Give regular performance feedback and conduct performance appraisals

  • Perform other duties including monitoring staffing budget expectations, improving patient satisfaction, and engaging teammates and providers in a positive, encouraging work environment. Fosters a sense of urgency in teammates that promotes commitment to patient centered care, optimal clinical outcomes and regulatory compliance

  • Communicate regularly to all teammates, managers and physicians as necessary. Conducts teammate meetings as needed. Lead and/or participate in departmental quality improvement and service excellence activities. Research and resolve local clinical quality issues

  • Completes annual compliance training on HIPAA/Privacy/Confidentiality/Non-Discrimination/Harassment/Integrity Statement and signs Agreements

  • Ensures confidentiality of patient information following HIPAA guidelines and TEC policies

  • Attends training to meet requirements of the job position and as needed or mandated by TEC policies, Div. of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH), OSHA, L&I and other state/federal regulations

  • Has regular and predictable attendance

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge: Knowledge of ADA, Fitness for Duty, FMLA policy, HIV counseling procedures and blood borne pathogen protocols, WISHA/OSHA mandated regulations, Personal protective equipment, Hazards materials, and Infection control procedures.

  • Skills: Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional medical assistance to provide on-going patient care. Knowledge and ability to teach and apply current theories, techniques and practice. Critical thinking skills, ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, etc.).

  • Abilities: Reads, speaks, understands and writes clearly in English. Works with initiative, energy and effectiveness in a fast-paced environment. Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) in interpersonal relationships with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers. Ability to function effectively in emergency situations. Ability to take responsibility for own professional growth and development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • American Heart Association BLS (classroom live skills component) certification

  • 1+ years of leadership experience (lead, supervisor and above) or demonstrated equivalent experience

Must be able to frequently stand and walk from place to place for long periods of time with intermittent breaks. Must be able to run during an emergency. Must be able to frequently use hands and fingers to handle, grasp or feel objects, tools, controls and medical or office equipment. Must be able to frequently repeat the same movements. Must be able to make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls and move arms and legs quickly. Must be able to speak clearly so listeners can understand and be able to understand the speech of another person. Must be able to hear sounds and recognize the difference between them. Must have a level of visual acuity to be able to see details of objects from near and far and see differences between colors, shades and brightness and determine the distance between objects. May have periods of prolonged sitting about telephone or computer usage. Must able to use muscles to lift, push, pull or carry heavy objects. Occasionally may be required to lift to 50 pounds and carry up to 24 pounds. Must be able to bend, stretch, stoop, twist, squat, kneel, crawl, push/pull, grasp, handle or reach out. Must be able to move two or more limbs together while remaining in place. Must be able to coordinate the movements of several parts of the body, such as arms and legs, while the body is moving. Must be able to demonstrate proper body mechanics to support physical activity for long periods without getting tired or out of breath. Must be able to keep or regain the body’s balance or stay upright when in an unstable position.

Mental Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve non-routine and complex office administrative problems; may use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks; work under intensive deadlines with frequent interruptions; and interact with managers, staff, customers, patients, the public and others encountered in the course of work, some of whom may be dissatisfied or abusive individuals.

Can involve dealing with sick patients. With frequent exposure to communicable/infectious diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Interaction with others is busy, constant and occasionally interruptive. Typical office conditions and noise level is usually quiet. Work may be demanding at times. May require ability to work irregular hours.

Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $58,300 to $114,300 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
