Job Description:

Apex Systems is seeking Senior Flight Control Systems Integration and Safety Engineers to work onsite in Everett, Washington.

 

Position Overview: We are seeking a self-motivated, mid-career engineer to join our team in designing, analyzing, testing, and certifying flight control systems and components for large commercial aircraft. This role also involves supporting production and fleet operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Decompose airplane-level requirements into system and component-level requirements.
  • Lead and participate in system, component, and detail certification efforts, including creating certification artifacts (system safety analysis, failure modes and effects analysis, fault tree analysis), ensuring traceability to regulatory requirements, and resolving regulation conflicts.
  • Gather, define, and document system-level requirements to support flight control and mission/trajectory requirements.
  • Resolve requirement conflicts and perform analysis and design of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems.
  • Lead and participate in system and component-level validation analysis and testing, including test monitoring, report authoring, supplier test report review, test failure analysis, and mitigation.
  • Support initial production efforts, including resolving first build problems, ensuring readiness for production milestones, and analyzing and resolving rejections and test squawks.
  • Support global fleet operations by providing expert consultation for airline and regulator queries, resolving Service Related Problems (SRP), and analyzing flight incidents for Safety Review Board (SRB) recommendations.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally within and outside of company, including with avionics, pilot/crew operations, airplane safety, aerodynamics, systems software, suppliers, airline customers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop solutions and resolve issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Work under general direction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering. ABET accreditation preferred but not required.
  • 7+ years of technical experience in an aerospace or similar regulated industry environment.
  • Experience with System Safety Analysis, including failure modes and effects analysis, fault tree analysis, common cause analysis, and single & multiple failure analysis.
  • Knowledge/Experience with ARP 4754 and ARP 4761.
  • Experience with flight control system and component architecture.
  • Experience in requirements development, design, analysis, and verification & validation of flight control systems.
  • Experience using requirement management tools such as IBM Rational DOORS.
  • Experience with manufacturing regulated and certified, safety-critical components and software.
