The Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) has a great part-time opportunity for a Principal Reliability and Maintainability Engineer to join our Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) Engineering organization located in Everett, WA .
This is a part-time position with minimum of 20 hours per week required (5 days a week and 4 hours per day work schedule).
The principal engineer will help to Design, certify & support commercial airplanes by applying state-of-art reliability and maintainability engineering design, modeling and analysis principles. R&M engineering is a key functional subject area that supports the airplane development for efficient performance, lifecycle economics & compliance to safety and airworthiness requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
R&M engineer will use modeling, simulation and data analytics methodologies & tools for statistical and probabilistic analyses.
Serve as a technical specialist supporting other functional design groups during all stages of the airplane product development and support lifecycle.
Responsible for aiding in determining program technical performance measures (TPMs) such as schedule reliability, airplane operational availability & maintenance cost.
Provide support in the following areas:
Design for Reliability & Safety (airplane and system design reliability requirements validation & verification, reliability requirements allocation to suppliers, failure modes, rates, effects, propagation and detection analysis, architecture & operational provisions, safety & certification analysis, certification support, reliability & durability testing),
Design for Maintainability (airplane and system design maintainability requirements validation & verification, task time analysis, maintainability evaluation of design using digital maintainability tools including virtual and augmented reality tools), requirements for and assessment of airplane technical performance measures (TPMs) such as schedule reliability, airplane operational availability & maintenance costs, TPM guarantee analysis.
Interact with airplane system suppliers, business partners, airline customers, airplane development program leaders, and functional management is typical, as is a high level of communication between the rest of the R&M Engineering internal organization, program teams, and functional design areas. Team involvement and individual effort, problem solving, and leading multiple actions and assignments will be regular duties for an R&M engineer.
Work Authorization:
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering field.
10+ years of experience in applying Reliability Engineering on a large-scale aerospace or defense program.
5+ years of experience in the Boeing process for releasing aircraft for flight, maintaining air worthiness in accordance to policies and procedures.
5+ years of full-time aerospace proven experience with analytics, airline operations/maintenance, and aircraft reliability & maintainability.
Preferred Qualifications:
Reliability, Maintainability or Safety engineering experience.
Experience with engineering analyses and simulation tools (e.g. MATLAB, CAD or similar tools)
Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Relocation:

Summary pay range : $75.60 – $102.30 per hour
