Fortive Corporation Patent Attorney in Everett, Washington

As a Patent Attorney/Agent in Fluke’s Intellectual Property team, and the broader Legal team, you will report to the Chief IP Counsel and work closely with our engineers and inventors to prepare, prosecute and manage Fluke’s global patent portfolio.


  • Drafting, reviewing, filing, and prosecuting U.S. applications in the electrical, software, and mechanical arts.

  • Managing US and foreign associates in connection with filing and prosecuting foreign patent applications.

  • Supporting Fluke patent committee meetings and patent portfolio management processes.

  • Preparing patent searches and IP landscapes.

  • Maintaining knowledge of US and foreign patent prosecution laws, rules and regulations.

  • Working on special projects as needed.

  • A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Computer Science.

  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a registered Patent Attorney/Agent.

  • Admissions to at least one state bar preferred, along with willingness to be admitted to the Washington State Bar.

  • Three to six (3-6) years of patent prosecution experience required, with some law firm experience preferred.

  • A law degree from an ABA accredited law school preferred.

  • Demonstrated writing ability including patent applications, and office actions.

  • Familiarity with patent docketing, CPi preferred.

  • Proficiency with patent searching tools, including USPTO, eSpaceNet, and Derwent Innovation, PatSnap or similar.

  • Proficiency with MS Office tools.
