Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The Kuiper team is looking for motivated, customer-focused individuals who want to join our team as an Operations Manager III. This position is a multi-faceted role requiring the ability to balance strategy and execution. This role will be responsible for managing warehouse managers, technicians, leads in functional areas such as material receipt, picking, kitting, or material delivery.

You are comfortable with ambiguity and will set the vision for our long-term operational planning as well as our daily execution of tasks, ensuring the team consistently executes to meet customer needs. This is a hands-on position where your daily activities will range from labor planning to strategic projects to new system development to supporting the customers that depend on our services.

Key job responsibilities

-Hire, Support, mentor, and motivate your salaried and hourly workforce, promoting a culture of inclusion, innovation and performance.

-Oversee daily execution of warehouse operations to deliver daily requirements with a focus on safety and quality

-Deliver on the operational budget for functional area, including safety, productivity, financial and labor planning, and operational goals for outbound, or inbound operations

-Manage, grow and develop a team of high-performing area managers, promoting a culture of inclusion, innovation and performance

-Lead large-scope Operations projects with impact on the overall Kuiper fulfillment operations, including implementing critical business initiatives across multiple sites

-Define and Evaluate process metrics/KPIs across sites to identify improvement initiatives from incoming material receipt to delivery to factory floors

-Manage safety, quality, productivity, and customer delivery promises

-Collaborate with all support teams including Safety, Engineering, Quality, Human Resources to develop plans to meet business objectives

A day in the life

You engage your team during their shifts to maintain the highest levels of safety, quality, attendance, and performance. You provide your team with the tools needed for success while driving improvements in productivity and efficiency through data-driven decisions and analytical problem-solving.

You develop the talent management and resource allocation strategies to staff in line with forecasted and actual volumes. This requires you to look across multiple operations to balance the line and ensure customer needs are met at the right time and location.

You demonstrate business acumen and skills in driving change by developing business proposals and driving implementation of recommendations through effective written and oral communication.

You effectively lead cross-functional meetings with clear document writing, agenda creation, note capture and follow-up activity coordination.

Basic Qualifications

-3+ years of employee and performance management experience

-Bachelor's degree, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) or equivalent experience

-Flexibility with shift assignment

-Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

-Effective coaching and mentoring skills

-Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks

-Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality

Preferred Qualifications

-2+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience (Lean Six Sigma certification - Green Belt and higher)

-Master’s Degree in Engineering, Operations Research, Business Management, Business Administration, or equivalent

-3+ years of ERP experience, especially in SAP

-Strong communication and interpersonal skills

-Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Smartsheet

-Experience running facilities with robotics/automation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $131,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $178,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
