Optum Epic Clinical Systems Manager in Everett, Washington

The Everett Clinic Epic Clinical Systems department is seeking an Epic Clinical Systems Manager to join their team full time. This is a hybrid position with 1-2 days per week worked onsite as needed.

The Epic Clinical Systems Manager functions as an integral member of the team and is responsible for the successful implementation and ongoing maintenance of The Everett Clinic’s Epic Clinical Systems including the Electronic Health Record (EHR), Patient Portal, Release of Information, Radiology, and potentially other modules to include Medical Oncology, Surgery/Anesthesia and Lab. Partners with the Manager of Revenue Cycle Systems to deliver an integrated Epic solution for the clinic.

The Epic Clinical System Manager is responsible for and not limited to:

Product Knowledge and Application

  • Understands the business needs and work flow of the clinic to deliver Epic Clinical Systems.

  • Understands the data needs of the clinic and provide solutions to deliver clinical metrics, reports and dashboards.

  • Works with the Epic Clinical Ops Systems Manager, the Manager of the Revenue Cycle Systems and the Director of Epic to understand the business needs and work flow of the clinic to deliver an integrated Epic solution.


  • Manages the Epic Clinical Systems team. Directs work of staff, including supervision, hiring, and terminations; determine staffing needs, and ensure efficient utilization of staff. Conduct and document annual performance evaluations.

  • Holds regular team meetings and meet regularly with direct reports. Plans, develops, manages, monitors and is accountable for department capital and operating budgets. Approves expenditures against budget.

Strategy Development

  • Works with the Epic Clinical Prioritization Committees/Management Guidance Teams to develop a strategy for implementation, optimization, enhancement and maintenance of Epic systems.

  • Participates in regional and national Epic User Groups to share best practices and collaborate on new and enhanced products.

  • Participates in appropriate Administrative and Steering Committees related to key clinic initiatives to represent Epic capabilities.

Required Experience and Credentials:

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business, or healthcare administration or equivalent work experience.

  • Experience : Minimum of five years’ experience successfully managing or directing clinical and business application systems in healthcare.

  • Certificate/License : Epic Certification

  • Vaccination Status:

Preferred Experience and Credentials:

  • Education : A master's degree is preferred.

  • Experience : Experience with Epic systems strongly preferred.
