Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety SpecialistJob Description

The EHS Specialist will support, develop, communicate, train, drive, manage, audit, improve, and measure EHS performance. This role includes developing and enhancing EHS compliance and risk management processes, driving understanding, and engaging to provide EHS performance improvement for the portfolio. The EHS Specialist will support the development and execution of EHS compliance programs and will be accountable for supporting the development and implementation of environmental, health, and safety programs in line with global EHS policies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance EHS compliance and risk management processes.

  • Drive understanding and engagement to improve EHS performance.

  • Influence business unit leadership to integrate EHS into daily operations.

  • Support the development and execution of EHS compliance programs.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards through training and communication.

  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders to achieve compliance.

  • Conduct investigations of working conditions to prevent occupational disease and health hazards.

  • Promote EHS awareness through effective employee communications and participation.

  • Serve as the key point of contact for safety and environmental issues.

  • Support regulated waste management, including consolidation and inspections.

  • Conduct compliance tasks such as storm water sampling, waste inspections, chemical inventory, and life safety audits.

  • Execute compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and customer requirements.

  • Support and conduct EHS audits, develop action plans to resolve findings, and implement countermeasures.

  • Perform risk assessments related to jobs performed for new processes and equipment.

  • Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics for reporting.

  • Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures for ergonomics.

  • Establish and manage the safety committee.

  • Drive continual improvement efforts to reduce site safety and environmental risk.

  • Support site stand-up meetings, safety committees, and floor inspections.

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of EHS regulations.

  • Experience in health and safety, environmental health, and manufacturing plant operations.

  • Risk assessment skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental engineering, environmental science, or related field, or relevant experience.

  • 1+ years’ experience in EHS support, especially in warehousing.

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910.

  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in conducting investigations of working conditions.

  • Ability to promote EHS awareness throughout the organization.

  • Experience in supporting regulated waste management and compliance tasks.

  • Ability to perform risk assessments and maintain accurate metrics.

  • Ability to support and conduct EHS audits and develop action plans.

Work Environment

The position requires the ability to lift up to 49 pounds and stand/walk for up to 10 hours. The work environment includes a warehouse setting, with a slower pace. Candidates must be willing to work any shift based on availability, including flexible shifts such as days, nights, and/or weekends. Shift options include Front Half (Sunday-Wednesday) and Back Half (Wednesday-Saturday) with 4 10-hour shifts. The 1st shift runs from 6 am to 4:30 pm, and the 2nd shift runs from 5 pm to 3:30 am.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
