Commander, Navy Installations Custodial Worker in Everett, Washington

Summary Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military and civilian employees. Responsibilities Performs variety of janitorial/custodial duties to maintain a clean, safe buildings, cabins, rooms, and grounds. Duties such as vacuuming rugs and draperies; shampoos rugs and upholsters; sweeps, mops, strips, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors using light to heavy industrial equipment. Dusts, waxes and polishes office furniture, dusts ledges and woodwork; empties cigarette disposal cans and waste baskets, disposing of trash and recycling waste appropriately. Cleans glass partitions, inside and outside windows, walls and ceiling fixtures using ladders and scaffolds. Maybe required to move and set up tables, chairs and other equipment as required for events. Maintains restrooms in clean and sanitary condition including disinfects and deodorizes lavatories, sinks and toilet bowls, replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue and soap. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Work is primarily performed in an office environment with occasional exposure to weather elements during attendance at outdoor events. Incumbent must have the ability to obtain and maintain security clearance eligibility. Must possess and maintain a current state driver's license. May occasionally travel away from the normal duty station. May occasionally work overtime Exerts moderately heavy physical effort in controlling heavy equipment, carrying and setting up and working from ladders and scaffolds. Constantly standing or walking; frequently lifting or moving objects from 30 to 50 pounds. Qualifications Knowledge and skill sufficient to read signs and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work safely while moving lightweight objects. Must be able to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, cleaning compounds and solutions and perform minor maintenance on equipment. Education Additional Information Participation in the Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within 30 days of employment is required. Certification for front desk operations and other requirement outlined in the Lodging Career Path Guide obtained within established time frame. This position involves work on workdays and may involve weekends, and holidays, as well as rotating shifts, often consisting of other than normal duty hours.
