SUMMARY: The Master Mechanic performs maintenance to service, repair, and overhaul aircraft to ensure airworthiness. Utilizes technical skills and knowledge to train and develop mechanics. Assists Leads with the daily operation of a functional area while working under minimal supervision.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reads and interprets manufacturer and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, drawings, engineering orders, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repair, replacement, or modification.
  • Oversees and co-signs for uncertified mechanics in accordance with the ATS RSM procedures as required.
  • Repair, modify, replace, or otherwise perform routine maintenance.
  • Uses technical data to order parts and ensures material is effective for the components being installed.
  • Gathers information to submit to Engineering as needed.
  • Recognizes unsafe conditions and takes immediate corrective action.
  • May assist Leads with planning, production, and quality control of assigned projects.
  • Estimates labor hour requirements as required.
  • Identifies opportunities to develop DER repairs.
  • Communicates effectively with other maintenance personnel at all levels by keeping co-workers and leadership apprised of work progress and difficulties as they arise.
  • Facilitates On-the-Job Training (OJT) to provide learning opportunities through work assignments and mentoring.
  • Recommends changes to processes to improve efficiencies and workflow.
  • Complies with and may communicate and guide team members on ATS policies, procedures, and Safety Management System (SMS) requirements. Promotes the "Balanced Technician" concept.
  • Mentors and develops mechanics assigned to their functional areas.
  • May assist in regular feedback and performance coaching, including appropriate time management, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring proper knowledge and training to accomplish assignments within the crew.
  • Responsible for accurate timekeeping, including clocking into jobs.
  • May be responsible for accuracy of clocking into jobs for assigned team.
  • Adheres to company training guidelines.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Effective and appropriate conduct with co-workers.
