General Job Scope Overview

The Commodity Manager will be responsible for developing and executing tactical and strategic Stamped/Formed and Hardware commodity plans for the North American operations at Fluke, Everett location. The same individual will also lead cost reduction initiatives, on-time delivery, quality, supplier performance and improve on vendor relationships. This position allows for vast and varied exposure across multiple disciplines and business units.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support goals and objectives as established by supply chain management.

  • Rationalize the supplier base through the solicitation of competitive RFQ bids. Analyze received quotations, select and recommend new suppliers.

  • Recommend Make vs. Outsource business opportunities.

  • Create monthly suppliers report cards and manage supplier performance initiatives.

  • Cascade standard supplier performance management practices for multiple suppliers.

  • Drive year-over-year supplier improved performance in quality, delivery, costs and with working capital terms.

  • Negotiate supplier contracts and a achieve year over year improvement goals.

  • Develop new vendor relationships necessary to support business and supply chain objectives.

    Strong knowledge of the overall supply chain from the suppliers’ raw materials to the end product. Understanding what factors within the commodity are the greatest influences on quality, delivery, lead-time, costs, and service performance. Knowledge of key risk factors within the commodity, such as limitations of material supply or manufacturing capacity, geographic concentrations of supply or manufacturing capacity and impacts of time and distance in the supply chain. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or Engineering, or relevant experience with supply chain.

  • 5-8 years of supply chain or operations experience in a manufacturing environment preferably within metals commodity.

  • Experience using lean methodology processes in a manufacturing environment is a plus.

  • Experience in a low volume and high mix demand for products environment.

  • Negotiation, analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Good organization, project management and follow-through skills

  • Ability to prioritize, multitask and act in a proactive manner.

  • Microsoft. Excel and Oracle experience preferred

  • Occasional travel to vendor locations as required
