Work Hours flexibility may be available and considered * *Salary: $5236.00- $7040.00 Monthly Positions with permanent duty stations in King County receive an additional 5% added to their monthly base salary. The salary listed in this announcement reflects the additional 5%.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overseeing the cruising to agency standard of approximately 105 mmbf in timber sales produced by the South Puget Sound Region each year. The sales are located in King, Snohomish, Pierce, Lewis, Thurston, Kitsap, and Mason counties.
- Prioritize and schedule cruising projects to meet region deliverables and deadlines.
- Complete check cruises; analyze the accuracy of cruises and implement improvements.
- Provide compliance cruising or log scaling for sold timber sales.
- Supervise and provide direction for one Cruiser & Small Sales Forester.
- Provide timber sale planning evaluation and recommendations to district staff.
- Conduct cruising training for district foresters.
*Required Qualifications: *
- Bachelor's degree in natural resources management or related field; OR Four years of professional experience in timber cruising, forestry, or related field; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or professional experience.
- Professional experience with:
- Forest Management objectives, timber management planning
- Forest Practices rules, forestry laws and practices
- Logging and forest road construction equipment and use
- Cruising Principals and Theory
- Application of Cruise Design and Methods
- Statistics and Analysis
- Cruising Software applications
- Log Scaling methods and principals
- Working under minimal supervision within established procedures, methods, and standards
- Experience in using basic forestry field instruments, including clinometer, compass, GPS, radio, and laser rangefinder.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications of Excel & Word, and Adobe.
- Ability to navigate using maps, aerial photos, or orthos and compass.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to think critically and determine appropriate problem-solving approaches based on the situation.
