The Human Services Department is seeking a Pretrial Services Officer.Pretrial Services Programs are procedures to prepare cases for trial in court. The Pretrial Services Division is designed to divert criminal defendants from pretrial incarceration. It provides complete, accurate and non-adversarial information to the judges of the Kitsap County Courts to improve the release/detention decision process. The program is responsible for gathering information about newly arrested defendants and preparing the recommendations considered by the Court in deciding release options. Summary of position:We have an exciting opportunity for a Pretrial Services Officer to join our team. The incumbent is responsible for interviewing detainees within the Kitsap County Jail and gathering financial and personal information from a variety of sources in an effort to determine and report the feasibility of granting bail and appointing legal counsel to the court. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of techniques and legal standards related to conducting investigations as well as the legal system and procedures, especially criminal case processes. Our new team member must be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a diverse audience. Must have the ability to conduct a comprehensive and completely objective interview with persons charged with felonies.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: *Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, or closely related field AND *One year experience in law enforcement, security, judicial/courts related field. *Any equivalent combination of experience and education that provides the applicant with the desired knowledge, skills and ability required to perform the work For more information, and to apply, please visit https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/kitsap.
