Nutritionist - RD (Medical Nutrition Therapy): Posting #25364

Hourly Rate: $32.56

Annual Salary: $67,724.80

Position Summary:

Full-time Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) needed to work at our Des Moines Medical Clinic. The RD in this position will also offer coverage at the Adolescent Clinic in South Park. The Adolescent Clinic is located at the new Sea Mar Chicano/a/Latino/a Culture Museum in Seattle, Washington. 

The RD candidate must have an interest/experience in providing nutritional assessment, counseling and education for adolescent (13-21 year old) patients with an emphasis on eating disorders. Must be enthusiastic about adolescent/teen health.

This is a Medical Nutrition Therapy position. While in this position, the RD will work closely with the Health Educator, Chronic Care Coordinators, medical providers and other clinical team members in an outpatient setting. 

The RD is responsible for nutrition education and counseling and will provide patient risk assessment, nutrition education, and nutrition services for patients referred by the Primary Care Provider in individual and some group settings. Nutritional conditions frequently encountered in our clinics include diabetes, obesity, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, heart disease and other chronic diseases. The RD will also work with patients with food allergies, GI conditions, disordered eating, weight management, pediatric nutrition, and other health concerns.

Required Education and Certification: 

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Nutrition from an accredited university

  • Completion of an accredited dietetic internship program or Coordinated Undergraduate Program in Dietetics and status as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission for Dietetic Registration required.

  • Certified Dietitian in the state of Washington required

  • Registered Dietitian Credential required.

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Experience and Required Skills:

One year experience in an outpatient nutrition setting is desired, but not required. Experience in a community nutrition setting with an interest in weight management and diabetes education desired.  Ability to deal patiently and empathetically with multicultural clientele, even under stressful conditions, is required. Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred - please mention your language abilities in your application materials. Ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision is essential.
