Federal Aviation Administration Deputy Regional Administrator, Northwest Mountain Region in Des Moines, Washington

Summary The Executive Director for National Engagement & Regional Administration leads a nationwide organization through a HQs office in Washington, DC and nine regional offices strategically located across the country. Regional Administrators and their Deputies deliver high quality corporate services including special programs, executive services, facilities management and Command & Control Communication operations. They are also leaders during crises, disasters & all emergency situations. Responsibilities The Deputy Regional Administrator (DRA), Northwest Mountain Region is the second principal Federal Aviation Administration representative for that region which is comprised of several states. The incumbent provides cross-functional leadership and represents the FAA throughout the region. The DRA directs the delivery of high quality corporate services to an extensive, diverse customer base, provides leadership in cross-organizational matters (e.g., environmental issues, airport development, major program initiatives.) and interfaces with industry, the public, and various governmental organizations. The DRA ensures delivery of quality shared services across the service area for the National Engagement and Regional Operations organization on time and in the most efficient manner possible. These corporate services include financial services, command and control communications, and human resource support - integral to maintaining strong, safe, and efficient national and international aviation safety. As a collateral duty, the DRA serves as the Department of Transportation (DOT) Regional Emergency Transportation Coordinator for the DOT region(s) within his or her purview. The DRA executes the responsibilities of the position via approximately 1,300 to 1,500 employees and an office budget of at least $4.5 million to $5.2 million annually.Specific Responsibilities Include:Represents the region and agency in regional contacts with high level representatives of the aviation industry, other Federal agencies, state and local governments, aviation organizations, educational institutions, and civic and local organizations and collaborates with elected officials to resolve local issues and concerns.Responds to media inquiries regarding FAA activities in the region.Directs evaluations of quality, timeliness, and efficiency of regional services and directs and oversees implementation of any needed improvements. Ensures measurement systems are implemented for individual and organizational performance that clearly link regional responsibilities with the FAA Flight Plan and the ARA Business Plan.Provides executive leadership to the senior ARA regional managers and directs the full range of regional corporate services.Leads coordinated DOT emergency transportation programs tailored to the requirements of the region; directs the development of preparedness plans and conducts training in coordination with other DOT Operating Administrations, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and other Federal, state, and local organizations.
