Summary The Material Handler/Inventory Specialist ensures orderly and accurate distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, moving materials using forklifts and/or other heavy machinery and delivering production materials. This position is also responsible for tracking incoming and outgoing orders, maintaining detailed records and accurate inventory counts. Your Role Safely perform the material handling and warehousing processes required in the receiving, processing, storing, moving, packing, loading and shipping of parts, materials, equipment, and supplies. Compare identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, purchase orders, work orders, or other records; resolve discrepancies. Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, counting and placing materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory Perform weekly cycle counts (inventory), reporting discrepancies to accounting. Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product. Maintain material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and preparing reports (twice daily); make operator repairs, reporting equipment damage or malfunction to supervisor and/or maintenance manager. Utilize pneumatic tools and/or power tools to build and construct wooden shipping containers. Load and unload various types of freight from incoming deliveries using material handling equipment, safely and efficiently, to transport products to shipping locations or delivery platforms. Carries out material acceptance inspections, refers concerns to Quality Control if needed. Work with other departments to resolve material issues. Performs other duties as assigned Education and Your Experience Needed High School Diploma or equivalent GED required; higher education or technical program preferred. 2-3 years of prior experience operating forklifts and other equipment used to fabricate metal parts. 2-3 years of prior experience managing inventory in conjunction with shipping and receiving duties. Ability to read and interpret two-dimensional blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Experienced forklift driver with exceptional safety record. Strong math skills with high attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Prior experience working in construction or manufacturing industry, preferred. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of moving, reaching, grasping, making coordinated movements of the hands and arms in the shop/construction/manufacturing and/or various facility locations. Prolonged periods of standing while operating loud machinery, wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and following safety protocols. Lifting, pushing, pulling, sliding, and continuous moving of heavy materials weighing up to 25 lbs. using all safety and lifting protocols; occasionally moving or lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs.
