Purpose of the Job:

Improve the overall health of the communities we serve by expanding the availability of health care by assisting the Pharmacist in providing prescriptions to patients as follows.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Reconstitutes pharmaceutical drugs, fills bottles with prescribed medication, and completes labels for bottles.

Files prescriptions and retrieves pharmacy records as required.

Files completed prescriptions alphabetically on shelf for patient pick-up in the pharmacy. Sells prescriptions when requested to do so by Pharmacist where no counseling is deemed necessary.

Accepts phone calls to/from pharmacy regarding prescription refills by number, pricing information, provider refill requests, business hours, availability of goods and services, etc.

Places, receives, unpacks, and stores incoming supplies and drug orders.

Collects payments from patients and other related front counter tasks.

Processes prescriptions dispensed to patient, computes charges, and enters data in computer utilizing pharmacy and health center software systems.

Requests refills on behalf of patient to appropriate provider.

Cleans equipment and sterilizes glassware according to prescribed methods.

Counts and pours from stock bottles for individual prescriptions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and the accuracy of the prescription contents is checked by licensed pharmacist.

Transcribes orders and the accuracy is checked by licensed pharmacists.
