Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Provides individual and group counseling services within individual scope of practice to assist in clients in achieving more effective personal, social, educational, and vocational development and adjustment.

Provides behavioral health counseling utilizing evidence-based practices and a brief intervention model. 

Available to primary care providers for behavioral health staffing and consultation. 

Collects psycho-social data about individuals and provide gathered information to providers to assist them in managing medical care.

Perform mental health evaluations utilizing approved evaluation tools assessing amenability to mental health treatment and level of care needed.

Develops detailed care plans for each client and document as part of the electronic health record.

Links clients with various community resources.

Provides in-service training for NEW Health staff as requested.

Participates in community outreach activities as directed.

For staff with chemical dependency expertise:

  •  Responsible for performing chemical dependency assessments on clients using approved testing instruments and evaluating tools and determining their amenability for referral to other agencies and/or programs.
  • Conducts individual and group counseling and education focusing on alcohol and drug treatment, relapse prevention, and cognitive behavioral change.
