Amazon Corporate LLC Applied Scientist, Last Mile Planning in Clyde Hill, Washington

Amazon Last Mile Planning science team is responsible for developing models and algorithms in support of the planning and execution of last mile across Amazon\'s various business offerings. This includes super-fast delivery options such as Parcel Delivery, Prime Now, Amazon Fresh, Amazon SCOUT. About the team As part of the planning science organization, you\'ll partner closely with other scientists and engineers in a collegial environment with a clear path to business impact. We are faced with complex problems and have tremendous opportunities to innovate in support of last mile planning and execution. The development of solutions involves leveraging the latest and greatest in OR, computer vision, ML, and deep learning techniques, and are actively looking to hire scientists to lead this area. Successful candidates will have a deep knowledge of Operations Research and Machine Learning methods for large scale problems, the ability to map models into production-worthy code, the communication skills necessary to explain complex technical approaches to a variety of stakeholders and customers, and the excitement to take iterative approaches to tackle big, long term problems. We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Bellevue, WA, USA - 3+ years of building models for business application experience - PhD, or Master\'s degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience - Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals - Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language - Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing - Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application - Experience in professional software development Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from \$136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to \$222,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
