The Opportunity WSDOT is currently seeking an experienced Custodian to join their team in Cle Elem, WA. This position will perform general cleaning, exterior grounds and facility maintenance and landscaping upkeep for the Bullfrog, Camp Mason, Easton, Ellensburg, and Hyak Maintenance Facilities. The selected individual for this position must be flexible, with the ability to work independently and follow established procedures. What to Expect This position performs work that is inside and outside of maintenance facilities in all weather conditions. Work is hands on, sometimes low to the ground and occasionally at elevated heights up to 8 feet. Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Custodian will: * Sanitize/disinfect and replenish supplies for rest rooms. * Scrub, dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, wax, strip, and buff a variety of floor surfaces. * Wash exterior/interior walls and clean windows. * Maintain grounds by mowing grass, push and riding lawnmower, operate weed eater, spraying and pulling weeds, and basic landscaping upkeep. * Trim trees and shrubs. * Pick up litter. * Make minor repairs to urinal, toilets, drains and fixtures. * Clean and replace furnace filters, vents, and belts. * Secure building by locking doors, turning off appliances, and checking exterior lighting. * Maintain parts and equipment supplies. * Prepare conference rooms for meetings, which includes setting up tables and chairs. Qualifications To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required: * High school diploma, GED certificate or equivalent. * Skills to read, write and communicate effectively. * Basic knowledge of cleaning and yard maintenance. * Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies. * The ability to operate cleaning tools: vacuums, polishers, and other custodial appliances. * The ability to work from heights up to 8 feet. * The ability to manipulate and transport objects, equipment and tools weighting up to 50 pounds. * A valid driver’s license. It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:_ _ * The ability to perform minor maintenance repairs. * Two (2) years of experience performing custodial/janitorial type work.
