Chewelah School District School Bus Driver in Chewelah, Washington

CHEWELAH SCHOOL DISTRICT #36 IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR:

PART-TIME BUS DRIVER 

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Current Washington State driver's license.
  2. Clear driving record.
  3. O.T. (CDL) Endorsement.
  4. CDL School Bus Endorsement.
  5. Current first aid/CPR certification.
  6. Current successful D.O.T. physical.
  7. WSP/FBI fingerprint background clearances.
  8. Ability to drive automatic and manual transmissions with two speed rear ends.
  9. Ability to work with students, parents and other staff.
  10. Ability to manage students in a safe and positive manner.
  11. Ability to apply chains to bus tires as often as two to four times daily.
  12. Experience driving on steep snow-covered roads.* *

PREFERENCES:

  1. Experience driving school buses.
  2. Experience chaining both large and small bus tires (demonstration may be required).

*OPEN ROUTES: * Open route available up to 3.75 hours per day for up to 5 days per week during the school year.  Final open position is dependent on in-district transfers. Final route will be assigned by the Transportation Supervisor. 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Training, certification and onboarding expenses may be reimbursed by the District following completion of 60 hours worked.  

GENERAL BENEFITS: Employees anticipated to work at least 630 hours per school year (September 1 -- August 31) and their families are eligible to be covered by medical, dental, vision, basic life, and long-term disability insurance through the School Employees Benefit Board (SEBB). Employees participate in a Washington State retirement plan and may choose to enroll in the District's 403b and deferred compensation plans. 180 day per year employees receive ten (10) paid sick days based on their hours worked per day. Up to 50% of the sick days are designated for emergency, personal and certain bereavement leave. Other paid leaves available to those who qualify include bereavement, military, and jury duty or subpoena. Benefits may be prorated depending upon employment start date.
