Job Summary: The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Science invites applications for a 100% special faculty/lecturer position in the Art Program housed in the Fine and Performing Arts Department to begin mid-September 2024. The candidate hired into this position will receive a one-year appointment for AY2024-2025 with the option for renewal based on funding availability and department need. The lecturer's primary focus will be teaching courses in Visual Culture and Studio Art for the Art Program. This is a multidisciplinary position; candidates must be able to teach in lecture-based visual culture courses in addition to studio art courses. Visual Culture courses include traditional art history in addition to thematic courses that fulfill general education requirements in Diversity and Global Studies. Candidates must have the ability to teach at least two of the following courses: The Visual Art Experience (art appreciation), Art Through Time I & II (art history survey courses), The Body and Art, Native North American Art, and Contemporary Art. Studio Art courses include both upper and lower division courses in one or more areas such as Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, Illustration, or Digital/Time-Based Media. Studio seminar courses could include Senior Capstone, BFA Thesis and Exhibition, or Writing About Art. Priority will be given to candidates with the ability to incorporate digital technology into studio art and/or experience with managing community-based art projects. The faculty member hired for this position will be welcomed into an academic community dedicated to cultural diversity, community engagement, and social justice. Teaching: typical workload for this position will involve 45 credits per academic year, subject to department needs.
