Job title: Outside Sales Representative (OSR)

FLSA Status: Full-time, exempt

Reports to: General Sales Manager

Job Summary: The Outside Sales Representative (OSR) will be accountable for ensuring that sales goals are met by strategically increasing sales volume through sustainable growth. This position involves a considerable amount of time in the trade, visiting retailers, educating and building existing and new relationships in order to forge strong partnerships between Crown Distributing of Aberdeen (CDA) and the retailer.

Essential Functions

  • Planning and execution to increase distribution and volume across assigned accounts.
    • Research customer needs and develop a mix of products to meet the needs.
    • Promote and build brand awareness of assigned segment.
  • Gain distribution, displays and promotions for all new and existing products in all channels of trade.
  • Ensure products are properly priced and promoted.
  • Follow a routine schedule visiting assigned retail accounts, while building a relationship with retail management.
  • Make daily decisions regarding retail inventory levels with data available to best gauge the needs, demands and promotion of items identified by the retailer and Crown.
  • Answer customer questions about products, prices, availability and product use.

Other Functions

  • Ensure timely and accurate chain, program and product communication to all stakeholders.
  • Participate in continuing education, to further develop sales channel insights and sales skills.
  • Participate in promotions which represent both the company and company's products in a professional manner.
  • Communicate and collect accounts receivable as necessary.
    • Working with the office staff and client to collect on balance due.
  • Be able to effectively make a professional sales pitch.
  • Execution of administrative duties in a timely manner to include; ad trackers, expense reports and mileage reports submitted by sales representatives.
  • Compliance with all company policies, state and federal laws.
  • Other functions may be requested by management as needed.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of outside sales tactics.
  • Knowledge of product lines, key features and attributes: ability to execute product line strategies.
  • Advance proficiency in MS Office to include but not limited to Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Possess knowledge of profitability and expenses.
  • Excellent oral, writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Principles and techniques for interacting with customers in a welcoming and professional manner.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities on a limited timeline while maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with current auto insurance.
  • Ability to travel throughout the day to visit customer accounts.

Working Conditions

  • Work will generally be performed indoors in a climate controlled area and walking/ driving throughout the day visiting customer accounts. On occasion duties will require presence in the distribution warehouse.

Physical Requirements

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to lift, carry, push and/or pull 50lbs.; occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
